Global Beat - Letter #10 | Extorsion Lab (?)

Oooook Dear!

I' m sorry for this little delay, but, since I don' t have anymore
Internet (I hope to get it again soooon!) is quite difficult to send
the Global Beat.

I' ve tried to connect via wi-fi my head to the net, but it does not
work. I need to install new driver into my brain.

Sooooo, now I' m here writing into the train, waiting to arrive at the
university to send this release.

heheh thanks IUAV, internet is the only thing that work great.

ahha

Oooook first of all, I want to take the attention to the web version
of the letter.

For all of you that receive the GB (codename, ahhah) directly into the
mail, you have to know that there' s also a web version of the Global
Beat. Is it called:

Web Version of the Global Beat.

www.global-beat.blogspot.com

What change between the WGB and the GB? just some attached images that
I can' t attach in da mail. hahahh I love this "da", really gangsta.

Remember the fractal of the last release? Well, in the WGB you could
see directly some images choosen by me. The one "connected" with
architecture.

One thing there' s more in the WGB are some cool link posted.

Obviously I suggest to check all of them, but this sunday, I want to
talk more about one of those link.

I' m talking about The Italian Graphic and Designer of the xx century.

He is:

Bruno Munari

Maybe some of you already know him, for the other that don' t know
this "Pure Genius" man, I suggest to learn more @

http://artscenecal.com/ArticlesFile/Archive/Articles2003/Articles1103/BMunariA.html

Or for the Italian, @

then, check this site to find images about his work.

Ooooook let' s pass at the artist of the week

As you can read in the subject of the mail this release the artist is
quite unknown..

Hehe..I know that all this is stupid, but..I have a big mess in my
cpu, and not only.

Ok, I have this artist under the name

Extorsion Lab

Buuut, I was not able to find again the page where I found the song!!!

Anyway, since a new week is coming, everybody need a boost to fight
this hard working days. So, I' ve thinked about this song I' m
listening a lot in this days.

is it called (at this point I suppose..)

Smoke Signals

It' s an intense 1m and 40s of precise/melodic cut & paste, I probably
taken from the first 6 second of the song. Really great.

Little fragment of a guitar, intense break-beated rhythm and a rain of
click will shake
your head for this little time. But well charged.

What you could do is to put in loop mode the song, or several times in
playlist, since is perfectly..loopable. ahah

Ooook, for this release, I think is all..

I wish you beautiful days, and lot of good things.!

Filippo

Global Beat - Letter #9 | Marco Mohamed

Ok People!

Hi and welcome the 9th release of Global Beat - Letter.

This sunday I wanna talk not only about music. On fact today I' ll
spread with all of you also a nice link to something I think is
amazing.

But, before I wanna talk to you about a Dj set I' ve made 2 days ago.

Was called

The Clash of the Titans

hahaha was fantastic!!!!! Ring of this challenge was the Bar Borsa.
Really thanks to Jordan.

Basically, we were 3 Dj' s and we made a sort of "challenge at the
last beat". I mean, I' ve started with a song, then the Dj after me
had to "answer" with an another track. More heavy, or soft, or cool or
I don' t know. Then was to the other Dj to answer to the other, etc
etc..

Was a great night, also for all the alcohool I' ve drinked..haahha..3
different kinds and music taste, but linked in some way with each
other. Cool.

Ok, now let' s pass to the amazing thing I' ve told you before.

How many of you know what are "fractal image"?
Per gli amici Italiani, sto parlando di frattali.

Ok, now I' ll explain you what I' m talking about..

The term "fractal" was invented by Benoît Mandelbrot in the 1975.
A Fractal Image is a shape that is recursively constructed or
self-similar, that is, a shape that appears similar at all scales of
magnification and is therefore often referred to as "infinitely
complex".
We could find fractal also in nature, for example in trees and
broccoli. ahhah yes, broccoli! the stupid vegetable that sincerly I
hate. But, look at it, a broccolo could be really cool.

Ok, this was just a little introduction, on fact there' s lot and lot
of things to know about fractal, so try to google for fractal to
discover more about.

What I' ll do is to give you a link to a program, for all the Windows
user, to create Fractal Image.

So, download it @

http://www.apophysis.org/

Then you have to look to this Fractal Artist called

Jock Cooper

discover more @

http://www.fractal-recursions.com/

I find his Art intresting and outside typical scheme. Using computer
and value he create an impressive collection of image, similar and
totally different from each other.
The site is divided into section, find the time to watch more image as
possible, you' ll find some incredibly great.
I' ve found also Architecture inside some of his image. Don' t know if
Jock intention was to create something Architectural, anyway I' ve
interpreted those image in an architectural way.

Ok!!!

Let' s pass to an another dimension.

Let' s fly from Belfast, were we have left Futia Expo '79, to Milano
passing through the Cairo, to discover the artist of 'da week (haha
like the slang? 'da)

Marco Mohamed

so let he speak for himself

"Hello =] My name is Marco Mohamed and a too long surname to type it
all. I live between Milan and Cairo, where, when I was a child, an
electronic virus has taken me.
Back in time, I' ve passed days recording on cassete tape, dance and
hip hop music from the radio, cutting the singing parts and replacing
them with old egyptian songs. In that way I messed around with sounds
I like. Meanwhile, I' ve listened to loads of good music, played
percussions and bought a computer, with which in 2006 I' ve started to
build something.
My sound is still under construction like my two projects, one by
myself and another called the Sound Terrorists project with my italian
friend and producer Airbag Killex. Hopefully both of them will see the
light in the end of the year.
Peace."

Good good good Marco, thanks for your presentation, and peace also to
you. haha 8)

To find more about Marco check his site @

http://www.myspace.com/marcomohamed

Where you could download some other cool tracks.

Song of the week is called

Butterfly

4 minute and 30 second of pure ethnic - electro - beat will animate your sunday.
Made of percussion (played live) angelic pad, surrounded by little
floating sound, that will let you lose, this track is a perfect mix of
beats, atmosphere and freshness. The Egyptian influence of Marco will
give us a different taste of sunday.

Find a comfortable place, pump up your volume and light up your Shisha.

Ok dear Friend and Heroes, now for me is time to go.!!!

Have beautiful days, and see all of you in 2 weeks!

Best

Filippo

Global Beat - Letter #8.1 | Futia Expo '79

Oooook dear Friends and Heroes,

Welcome back to the new release of your favorite Newsletter..ever.
hahah

So, I' m here writing into an another important headquarter of my city.

Here lot of thing began, lot of friend, lot of project, lot of music
and instruments.

In this moment, lots of "confetti".

Right now I' m here writing, while Ale is working with Maya, like everyday.

Ale, say something:

"Sto divento malato"

Hahahah great..

But is doing cool things, with Maya, render, architecture and objects.
He kick ass.

Anyway is more funny when he play at videogame, shooting to everything
is moving, at "too high" volume.

About me, after a week of problem with my stupid machine, finally I'
ve resolved quite everything..without erasing his stupid brain. Well,
at least for the moment.

Anyway, sure, nobody cares about.. Haha

So! as I said last week, in this number we will see a little
improvement that I find cool.

I' ve asked to the artist to make a presentation.

Cool, no?!

So, I wanna present you Steve,

"Futia Expo '79 is something I started doing because I really wanted
to be able to put tracks down wherever I was - something that didn't
rely on other people all the time. Funny tho, now that I'm writing
more I have started working with other people again.
I'm from Belfast, but the music is becoming kinda international. which is cool.

It's kinda electronic, mostly melodic, and hopefully someone will feel
something when they listen to it...

Thanks for the time.

Futia Steve"

Yea, thanks to you Steve.

Song I' ll propose the week is full of sensation, and is it called:

Pause/return/return/pause/stop

A crescendo of delayed guitar will introduce us to confessions and
feelings of Steve.. Till when, something turn, and the distorted
battery comes to explain how things have to be done.

Find a place, turn up your volume and let Futia speak.

Check more @

http://www.myspace.com/futiaexpo79

and

http://www.secondstreet.co.uk

to know more about his collaboration with Sara Culler from Sweden,
Sonnenblume from Colorado, and Nige Peake.

Ok people,

for today I think is all.

And, since I have super hungry, I think I' ll go to throw
something to eat directly inside my throat.

Have nice days!!

and see you in 2 weeks..

Bye

Filippo

Then, not happy, my AC adaptor started to make smoke and
sparkle...burned. Greeeeaat.

Bad luck never comes alone.

!

Ok, since my computer is dead for a while, I don' t have music to
spread, not even to listen for meeeee!!!

Anyway I' ve time to think and I' m having some ideas for the next
release. If everything goes well it could be a nice release.!

So, all this bullshit, just to say that this week Global Beat is
posticipated of a week.

Global Beat - Letter #7 | Kkeplero

Hi Dear Friends and Hero!

With a week of delay I' m here again, speaking of nothing but
deliverin' good music.!

and this week not only..

On fact, you' ll receive a zipped file with included a flyer regarding
a festival near here in the north of Italy. Hehe ok, I know that a lot
of you live on the other side of the world, or anyway really far, but,
I' ve to keep informed people about good music and happens so..since I
live here is important also for me.

ahhaha

Anyway the absence of last week is completely justified cause I was in
Marseille. After a party. Terminated too early for me, cause I was too
drunked. Hahhah hmm..not too much to laugh..

!

Ok let' s stop with bullshit and let' s start talking of something intresting.

Talking about Marseille reminds me to what I' ve listened there. And,
on fact is what I' m listening in this moment.

Dear Friends and Heroes I want to introduce:

The Flashbulb

yo Julien.

For those of you, lovers of high breakbeated rythm countured with
emotic played melodies, The Flashbulb rappresent a new world to
discover.
Active since 1999 the Flashbulb, after his debut album M3 "gained
international following with little more promotion than word of mouth"
(so start to talk about Globalbeat..hahah), then after some release,
with an important one under Rephlex Records, it started to became a
pioneer into the world of Breakcore.

http://www.theflashbulb.net/

With a great intro, you' ll be introduced directly into his world. On
fact inside the site you can hear dozen of tunes made by him, in a
fast and easy streaming.

Ok now, due to technical and time problem, you have to believe in the
power of Globalbeat and start discover this genius.

So, check it!!!

Ok, let' s pass to the attached file of this week.

You' ll find a song and also a flyer for the festival called "Sistema 3"

On his second edition, this festival want to give a wake up to the
north italian electronic scene. It will be near Pordenone and it will
see the presence of:

Kkeplero (feautured in this release of GlobalBeat)

Wicked Dub Division (from Africa Unite)

and many DJ' s covering all kind of style all night long.

Big day will be:

Saturday 30 September

from 21.00 till morning.

I' ll be there (maybe DJing ?), and all of you italian friends have to
be too.!!!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

So now, let' s talk about the band of the week. They' re:

Kkeplero

They come from Pordenone and their approach to music his well
explained into their manifesto.

"I find that there is a great misunderstanding into the idea of
"musical style": to see them as rigid and obvious points of reference
can carry us outside road. I have the suspicion that the musical kinds
have been created by the critics. Our formation is born for game,
reasoning around the anticonformism (word misused in modern age) of
actual music: our music is one mere elementary fragment repetition,
joined between in one organic composition, following the rigid rules
of the improvisation."

Down here is directly written for italian friends..hehe

Trovo che ci sia un grande equivoco di fondo sull'idea di genere
musicale: vederli come punti di riferimento rigidi e inequivocabili
può portare fuori strada. Ho il sospetto che i generi musicali siano
stati invantati dai critici. La nostra formazione è nata per gioco
ragionando intorno all'anticonformizzazione (parola abusata in epoca
moderna) della musica attuale: la nostra musica è una mera ripetizione
di frammenti elementari uniti tra loro in una composizione organica
seguendo le rigide regole dell'improvvisazione.

www.kkeplero.135.it

Here you' ll find their manifesto, all of their mp3 and some other,
made by the handphone of Gianluca Chiarini.

Song I' ll deliver is called:

Destroy Church

A carpet of worming and paradisiac synth will introduce the voice
behind which our 1 & 2 talk about their thoughts. Then, tension comes,
beat comes, and the rigid improvisation take place.

So, find a place, open your ear and let Kkeplero introduce you into
their music-vision.

Ok, for this week I think is all, I' ve gived you full of information
to pass next days listening to new and fresh tunes. And since I have a
social life, now I want to take a breath of some fresh air!

Enjoy, and have beautiful days.!

Global Beat - Letter #6 | The Apollo Program

Hi Dear Friends and Heroes!

Welcome back to Global Beat.

Wow..it seems is passed a month from the last release..!

Anyway, good thing is that I' m here again (with a third eye on the
shoulder, after a sunday passed into the sea of Sottomarina. A mixture
of dirty water, sand and unspecified form of life. Or death as we
prefer..), spreading good music, and writing bullshit..hahaha

No, ok, this time I' ll write something intresting and usefull.

Let' s start with something for all of you Italian friend.

10 September 2006

Matmos @ Teatro Goldoni - Venezia

For those who don' t know them, they' re famous for their narrow
cooperation with Bjork. They' re a duo made by Martin Schmidt and Drew
Daniels.
They are one of the important and dear realities of electronics,
creators of a music which uses the most disparate sources of sound. In
their discs and the performances from the living, Matmos use, to
example, sounds of pages of books, whistles, kisses, organic moods,
surgical interventions, microphones to contact on the body, insects,
tools...sample sample sample!
A must-go concert.!

Buy the ticket here:

www.teatrofondamentanuove.it

Second news.

"Hello Everything" is comed out..Yes, the big Squarepusher have
released his new album.

Well, what to say.

Acid synth, syncopated battery (sometimes allucinated) live
instruments, mixed into an album that goes from easy played jazz to
the most experimental electronic jazz. In the way it meant to be
called.

I always wondering what could pass in his head while producing his music.

Wow, really fascinating.

You could find the Cd @

www.boomkat.com

or

www.bleep.com

3rd and last news.

Remember my intention to post the Global Beat also on the net? Well,
now it' s online.!

so, check

www.global-beat.blogspot.com

here you' ll find all the release, but..without song..

Anyway on every release you' ll find all the necessary information to
find and download the song.

Ok, let' s pass to the artist of the week.

His name is:

The Apollo Program

Sometimes he write music and record it badly but he put it up anyway.
Sometime he try to write music and get stressed so he tear his hair
out. Sometimes he think his voice is going out.

Sometimes people don't have to think. Just shoot. (Lomoooo)

I don' t have too much information about himself. I could say that
under the name The Apollo Program is hidden Brian Peterson, from
Seattle. Where a lot of thing have began.

Song name is:

Silence and Betrayal

The fast and veiled drum, accompained with a carpet of melancholic
synth and the warm voice of our Brian, will send us into an another
world, ready to dive into our imagination.

Close your eyes, pump up the volume..and enjoy.

Global Beat - Letter #5 | The Long Ranger

Oook People!

Hi everybody and welcome back to Global Beat - Letter.

You' re warned, this sunday I want to dance. Maybe because I' ve to
clean up all the mess I' ve inside my "headquarter"? yes..haha

Ok, before, let me tell you some news.

A) As I said last week, I' m thinking about the idea to release the
Letter every 2 Sunday.

This because:

1) More time to discover new Artist / Hero
2) To let your mail take some breath

B) I' m thinking to post all the old Release on a site, so people
could go back in time, download and enjoy the old song posted.

C) I' d love to receive demos from all of you, music composer.

This because my mission is to spread good music, every kind of music.
I' ve started with electronic, and mainly it will, but, since I had a
distorted - hip hop - funky - punk - rock past, I could post
everything.

In some way, is what I' m going to do this week.

So, send your tunes @ Globalbeat.letter@gmail.com

Ok, ok..stop loosing time.

Band of the week is called:

The Long Ranger

Seattle - based electro pop duo performed by brother and sister, Ted
and Sylvia, with Seth on guitars. Layered on rollerskate harmonies
laced with jetpack beats and rhythms, they sing songs that make people
totally move!

Check their Myspace page @

www.myspace.com/thelongranger

their official site is still under construction, so, when I' ll have
some news I' ll let you know.

Song is called:

Burnin

An acid bouncing bass, a carpet of ethereal synth and fast looped
sound, straight "housey" rhythm and the charming voice of our Duo.
This is the perfect recipe for a song that will make you move and
enjoy this summer nights. And not only.

Ok, as I said before, this time the release of the week is also
oriented to all of you Rockers.

?

Because our Long Ranger have also another greeeat band called:

The Stereo Future

I' ll not explain their hystory in this number of my letter because it
'll be so long. But.. they rock!

So, directly check their page where you can download some great song.!

http://www.thestereofuture.com/

Ok, for this week is all, I think.

Enjoy!

Remember, feedback and suggestion are always appreciated! And if you
know someone that could be intrested to receive this Letter, just send
me his e-mail address!

See you probably in 2 week!

Filippo / In My Bedroom

www.myspace.com/inmybedroomusic

Hmmm.. this time email address of people should be hidden. I hope.

Global Beat - Letter #4 | My Toys Like Me

Hi People!

Ok, my computer, since 2 days, started to have some really big problem.
I' ve thinked to lobotomize it. But, then, I have to refill another
time his stupid brain. And then, I' ll have to make dozen of CD-R to
burn all the data but..who want?

So, is great that meanwhile I' m here to enfatize computer music and
other things about that stup..beautiful machine, my computer is making
me crazy.!

Ok, let' s stop with totally unusefull information.

Band of the week is called:

My Toys Like Me

My Toys Like Me consists of two core members - producer Lazlo Legezer
and Vocalist Frances Noon. They met on the set of an extremely bad
Film, mid 2005. After have talked about music..a lot, they flirted
with the idea of working together. But, like so many ideas born under
such circumstances, nothing came of it. Somehow, the song 'Gold Lace'
was born. Both they loved it, so, there was nothing to do but start on
the next.
Finding their feet, working in different ways all the time, becoming
great friends, and before they know it, they' re gonna have an album
right in the hands!
Now, they' re still writing new tunes, but soon, the stage will call them.!

Some other information could be founded directly on their Myspace page:

http://www.myspace.com/mytoyslikeme

The song I' m gonna propose is called:

Sick Couple - Yoad Nevo Mix

It' s Sunday, so people could be tired of the week-end but..since it'
s mid afternoon passed, maybe, is time to restart living.

The warm and sensual voice of our Frances Noon will drive you trough
this breakbeated rhythm, perfectly flavored with little sampled sound,
and accompanied with a contour of guitar and easy and trippin' synth.

Enjoy!

Filippo / In My Bedroom

P.S. I' m thinking to release the Global Beat every 2 Sunday..hmmm..

Global Beat - Letter #3 | Conductor

Hi People!

Welcome back with the #3 number of the Global Beat - Letter.

Here it' s always Filippo "On Air", and well-comed back from Greece.!

As I said, Sunday before I couldn' t write to all of you 'cause I was
"drinking precious and refreshing drink on the beach"...bullshit!!!
That sunday I was inside a camper, driving for something about 12 hour
going to farest point of Greece! Near Turkey...hahah anyway everything
was incredibly great, the company, the music, the sea.!

Ok, let' s pass to the Artist / Song of the week.

He his called "Conductor" and he comes from the "hot" Mexico.

I found this guy surfing trough Myspace and I was hitted from the song
I' m going to propose this week. So..check it!

His music is a research of harmonies, melodies, and digital beauty.
Product of an exploration initiated various years ago, when, for the
first time entered a music production tool inside his computer. At
first his production was an approximation of a rock band sound, with
recorded bass, guitars, voice, untill today that he is arrived to his
personal sound.

Anyway with or without recorded bass, guitar or other, Conductor is
always searching for new vibes to propose.

People come back from vacation, some other is going to go, someone
works and someone have nothing to do. This song will please all of you
with his cute atmosfere, warm vibes and a funny little synth.

They will make you smile thinking of all the good time you have passed
and all the one you' ll pass. Meanwhile, your head will move from the
left to the right following all the little sound and bass that fill
this beautiful song.

Song his called:

"Corti Escucha"

Some other information about our new friend could be founded directly
from his personal page.

www.myspace.com/elconductor

www.discosinvisibles.org/conductor

The second link is the one of his Label.
In the next month they 'll make a release with his album, but, as I
know, it will come out with another name that, sincerly, right now I
don' t know!
But I' ll not miss to tell you when I' ll know something more.

Ok, now it' s time to stop with words, and let the song talk.

Enjoy!

Best to all

Filippo / In My Bedroom

Remember, to be free from this Global Beat - Letter, just tell me.!

But, best it 'll be to tell to your friend about it!

Global Beat - Letter #2 | WISP

Hi Dear Friends,

it' s always Filippo writing.

Welcome to the second release of my Global Beat - Letter.

What to say..finally I' m on holiday! well, at least for a week.

This tuesday I' ll go to Greece, touring with a group of friend,
Argetti. They' re a real punk - core - emo band direct from my city
Vicenza.

Check their site on:

www.myspace.com/argetti

I' ll be the live phonic - supersonic for they' re 3 concert.

But..who cares about my holiday?! hahaha

Ok, let' s pass to the artist of the week.

Hmm is not easy to choose a song to spread..there' s too much I' d love to!

Anyway this week I' ve listened really a lot to a guy called:

WISP

(yo Julien)

I tell you that this time the song is not easy as Outputmessage..!

But I can' t resist, it makes my head moving and I can' t stay on
place when I ear that tunes!

If know/like Squarepusher - Aphex Twin you' ll love this artist.

Fast rythm, a kind of jungle - drum & bass, flavored with beautiful
melodic synth, syncopate sound and magic bell.
Anyway is not easy to describe this song, it change from minute to minute, so..

..remember what Aerosmith say' s?

Song name is:

- The Knep (myself)

from the album:

- humpelndenBEATS - 2004

Ok, let' s start with some information about our new hero WISP.

Wisp (Reid Dunn) comes from Niagara Falls, New York. He makes
electronic music that spans many genres, from jungle and experimental
DnB to ambient and downtempo electronica. Nostalgic computer games
bear an influence on his music. He began releasing music for free, in
the form of mp3s on netlabels, but has since been signed to Sublight
Records.

For more information about him or to download his music (totally for
free!!! so I' ll not have problem this time!! ahah) check his own
site:

http://www.wisp.kaen.org/

Here basically you' ll find all his discography to download.

Enjoy.!

Best to all.

Filippo / In My Bedroom

www.myspace.com/inmybedroomusic

P.S. Next sunday probably Global Beat - Letter will not be released
'cause I' ll be on a beach doing absolutely nothing. Well ok..taking
sun and drinking precious and refreshing drink. ahhaha
But, if I' ll find a computer to release the Letter I' ll not miss!

Remember!!!

If you want to be deleted from this Letter just tell me something bad!

Global Beat - Letter #1 | Outputmessage

Generally the song will be something electronic, old or new,
but..everything can happen.

Hmm..right now I still don' t know how this Global Beat - Letter is

law etc, anyway I' ll going to manage it in the better way.

Remember, downloading music is cool 'cause is free, but is not right!

So, if you like the music you' re listening, run into your preferred
music shop and buy the cd!! As i do.

or check this great site to buy directly from the net.

http://www.boomkat.com
http://www.bleep.com/

Feedback, suggestion, offense are really appreciated.

If you absolutely don' t care about discovering new music outside your
personal taste, just drop a line with written:

Fuck you.

or

Shut up.

or anything pass into your head.

If you know someone that want to be added, write me his mail and I' ll
provide to add him/her.

If somebody receive multiple message in different mail, tell me what
is your real mail, or where you want to receive it.

Thanks.

First song of this Global Beat - Letter is:

"Sommeil" from Outputmessage.

Label: Ghostly

Born in Queens, New York, in 1983, spending his formative middle-school
years in New Jersey, and finally ending up in Richmond, VA, Bernard Farley
(aka Outputmessage) can be given that rare title of "young musical prodigy."
During his time in New Jersey, he first became fascinated with a broad range
of music, eventually keying in on electronic; and when his family got its
first computer in the summer of 1998, he began making music on his
own. Now, while a mathematics major with a minor in philosophy at
Virginia Tech, he spends his off time writing hundreds of tight,
hook-laden tracks. With a remix of Dabrye on the Payback 12",
alongside the esteemed Prefuse 73, and a track ("Bernard's Song") on
Ghostly International's Idol Tryouts compilation before even turning
20, the prospects are bright for this studious young man.

I want to start with this song 'cause is quite easy, to introduce you
into my Global Beat - Letter.

Straight rythm, angelic pad, bouncing bass and a cool flute on the
back that 'll make you hiss. Sommeil means "sleep".

I don' t want to talk too much about the song, 'cause as Aerosmith
say' s lot of time ago:

Let the music do the talking.

So,

Enjoy!
